CO-OPING
Parents and families benefit from diversity. We are a model for the world we want to give our children by creating a safe, peaceful, supportive and caring community.

Co-oping at the center is an interactive, interdependent relationship between the co-oping parent, the children and the staff. The staff and children expect the the parent will keep their co-oping commitment on a regular basis. As more parents become involved, teachers can focus more on the children. The co-oping parents’ own parenting skills are enhanced through the observation of diverse parenting styles of the other parents and staff. By playing and working at the co-op parents know their child’s caregivers and daily life. The day care program is enriched by parents sharing their time and talents whether it be doing the dishes, art, storytelling or cooking delicious meals. Just hanging out, reading a story to your child and some of her/his friends lets your child know that the Co-op is an extension of their own family home.

Everyone is involved at the co-op. Parents, children and staff all share a sense of ownership and empowerment through participation. Each voice is valued.

Co-oping is a working agreement with staff and families to provide quality, interactive experiences at day care at reduced costs to the Co-op. Thus, families’ costs are also reduced. Co-oping is not mandatory, but very much encouraged.

Each parent will be walked through the process and expectations of co-oping during orientation. We will help choose a job, walk through the procedure of job, discuss what to do if co-op time will be missed, co-oping credit, etc.
Parent Co-oping Responsiblity and Credit:
Each hour is worth $6.25 an hour. All co-oping must be written in co-op book by parent to receive credit on your bill. All job responsibilities listed on job description must be done to receive full co-oping credit. All credit in co-op book will be given on next billing period. Extra co-oping above regularly scheduled weekly hours need to be approved by a staff member.

We encourage you to co-op where you will feel most comfortable. Class time is a great opportunity to spend time with your child, get to know the teachers and observe the environment. Many times parents are part of the ratio of the classroom. please talk to the Head Teacher about responsibilities during class time. This a great time to interact with other children as well as perform duties needed at that particular time.
